The Top 10 Ingredients for Skin Care :)

Skincare doesn't have to expensive, you can have beautiful skin without needing expensive creams and lotions.
A lot of the skincare products sold in shops include nutrients found in everyday food and ingredients which most homes already have. Here is a list of my top 10 household skincare ingredients and an explanation of why they work and how you can use them.
1. Sugar. Sugar is a popular ingredient to use in homemade exfoliaters as it is natural and granulated -perfect for deep exfoliation and if you have dry to normal skin and don't want to use sea salt.
2. Honey. Used by itself it makes a very good facial wash as honey has healing properties as well as helping to rejuvenate the skin and making it look younger, softer and smoother.
3. Eggs. Egg whites make and excellent face mask whilst the yolk is better suited as a moisturiser.
4. Olive oil. Popularly used to remove make up -especially waterproof or long lasting. A good moisturiser suitable for very dry skin. Mixed with sugar and honey makes a very nice exfoliating scrub or applied to your hair over night it is a good conditioner for chemically coloured, permed, straightened or bleached hair, or hair which is naturally very frizzy.
5. Coffee. Coffee granules mixed with olive oil can be used to rub on your body and is particularly good to use to improve circulation or reduce the appearance of cellulite, it is not a permanent affect but the cellulite may become less noticeable with regular use.
6. Porridge oats. Porridge oats are great for your skin as they help absorb the dirt and excess oil from your skin as well as helping to remove black heads and leaving your skin silky smooth.
7. Fruit and Veg.Tomato can be used to make a exfoliating scrub with sugar, banana and honey make a deep cleansing mask which is good for getting rid of blackheads, oranges can be used to rub all over your face to help clean and brighten your skin. Cucumber can be grated and mixed with a little water to make a mask which you leave on for 10 minutes. Cucumber is very good for your skin as it is a natural astringent, helps reduce oiliness, tightens pours and can help reduce puffiness. a small amount of lemon juice mixed with water can sometimes help people with very oily skin.
8. Bicarbonate of Soda. Mixed with water to make a thick paste it is good for applying to spots to dry them out or to be brushed on your teeth after your regular cleaning routine to help whiten them.
9. Sea salt. Good for absorbing excess oils and using to exfoliate your skin.
10. Rice. Can be used to make Rice water toner, ground into a powder to make into an exfoliating face scrub or mask.

NOT ALL THESE REMEDIES ARE SUITABLE FOR EVERYONE - EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE MADE FROM NATURAL INGREDIENTS!
If you know you are sensitive or allergic to certain things please don't use them and i is advisable to test on your wrist or inner elbow  if the ingredients are safe for use on your skin before using them on your face or on a large area of your body.

I will cover some of the scrubs / toner/ exfoliates mentioned here in later posts to give a more detailed explanation about how to make and use them. Please leave your comments if you have a request for a specific product first.
